Mexico Initiates Anti-dumping Investigation Into PET Plastic from Vietnam & Malaysia

On April 7, 2026, the Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam (TRAV) – Ministry of Industry and Trade received information from the Vietnam Trade Office in Mexico regarding the initiation of an anti-dumping investigation by the Mexican Ministry of Economy into PET Plastic (Polyethylene Terephthalate  resin originating from Vietnam and Malaysia.

Product under investigation: Polyester resin (PET – Polyethylene Terephthalate), having an intrinsic viscosity of 70 ml/g or greater, including mixtures of virgin PET resin with recycled or recovered PET, provided that the mixture meets the aforementioned viscosity requirements.

Vietnam and Malaysia

 

3. Period of Investigation (POI):

July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025

 

4. Injury Analysis Period:

July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2025

 

5. Next Steps and Procedures:

Interested parties (exporting and importing enterprises) must register to participate, provide information, and submit questionnaire responses no later than May 19, 2026.

 

6. Recommendations from the Trade Remedies Authority:

  • Closely monitor the situation and master the investigation regulations and procedures of the Mexican authorities.
  • Review the export status of this product to the Mexican market.
  • Proactively coordinate and update information with the Trade Remedies Authority for timely support.
