On 30 September 2025, the Ministry of Economy of Mexico announced the initiation of an anti-dumping (AD) duty investigation on certain steel wire rope products imported from Malaysia and Vietnam.
Details of the case:
1. Product under investigation:
Steel wipe rope
2. Related HS code:
7312.10.01, 7312.10.05, 7312.10.07, and 7312.10.99
3. Product Description:
- Steel wire rope is a collection of steel wires twisted helically around a core.
- Steel wire is the basic component used to form steel wire ropes. It is manufactured from high-carbon steel with various grades or quality levels depending on the intended use.
- The diameter of the steel wire ropes under investigation ranges from 3.18 to 79.38 mm, or from 1/8 to 3 1/8 inch
4. Exclusion Products:
Stainless steel, plastic-coated or otherwise coated steel wire ropes.
5. Origin of goods:
Malaysia and Vietnam
6. Period of investigation (POI):
- Anti-dumping investigation period: from 01/01/2024 to 31/12/2024
- Injury investigation period: from 01/01/2022 to 31/12/2024
7. Obligations of Vietnamese producers/exporters:
The deadline for registering as an interested party is 23 working days from 30 September 2025.
The Ministry of Economy of Mexico has sent investigation questionnaires to relevant Vietnamese companies. The deadline for submitting responses is before 07 November 2025 (Mexico time).
8. Recommendations from the Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam:
- Closely monitor further developments of the case
- Proactively study and fully understand the regulations, order, and procedures of AD investigations, and formulate appropriate defense strategies for the enterprises
- Provide complete information and maintain regular cooperation with the investigating authority.
