On 08 December 2025, Saigon Port Area I Border-gate Customs (under Customs Sub-Department Area II) issued Official Letter No. 3312/CKKV1-GSKS, requesting enhanced inspection and supervision of vehicles and cargo with oversized or overweight dimensions transported through the port area.
1. Temporary suspension of cargo confirmation if conditions are not met
From 08 December 2025, Saigon Port Area I Customs emphasizes that cargo confirmation will be temporarily suspended in the following cases:
- No circulation permit for the vehicle as required by regulations.
- The circulation permit does not match the technical specifications of the cargo (dimensions, weight).
- Vehicles or trailers do not meet technical standards or show signs of modification.
These measures aim to ensure safe and compliant traffic flow within the port area and to prevent consequences that may affect enterprises’ transportation schedules.
2. Requirements for close coordination among Port – Enterprises – Customs
- Early review of vehicles showing signs of being oversized or overweight.
- Advance notification to enterprises before vehicles enter the port area.
- Require enterprises to provide adequate circulation permits appropriate to the transportation route.
- Vehicles are not allowed to bring cargo into the customs supervision area under the “container handover” mechanism if conditions are not met.
- Import–export enterprises must proactively present relevant permits at all times — including at night — to avoid congestion and disputes.
