Malaysia officially ended the imposition of anti-dumping duties on cold-rolled steel or non-alloy steel with a width of over 1,300 mm imported from Vietnam. This decision was made by the Malaysian Ministry of Trade, Investment and Industry (MITI) after completing the final review, thereby confirming that Vietnamese exporters are no longer subject to this tariff.
The lifting of the application of anti-dumping duties and investigations on imported goods originating from or exported from South Korea and Vietnam, takes effect from June 23, 2025.
On December 24, 2024, at the request of Mycron Steel CRC Sdn. Bhd., a representative of the domestic steel industry, Malaysia initiated an administrative review of anti-dumping duties on cold-rolled steel coils with a width of over 1,300 mm imported from China, South Korea, Japan and Vietnam (except for some specialized products such as steel used in the automotive industry, tin-coated and transformer).
Malaysia’s decision to lift anti-dumping duties on Vietnamese steel is a positive signal, helping to expand opportunities for Vietnamese businesses to penetrate deeper into the export market in Southeast Asia.
